More than 10 years ago, I was bright eyed. I bought my residence at Thanacity. I loved the brochures that the real estate developer produced. Really Good. Good Management. Security. Laid out country club and golf course. Blue Clear skies. Nice luxurious houses. Well trimmed and kept roads. Big gardens and lots of spaces for my children to play and enjoy. I believed many residents who had bought the properties shared the similar views. And yes, a big golf club in the estate. Members of the club does not own the club. They are only given the right to use its facilities and pay a monthly subscription fees besides the fees that they paid for the club membership. I always pray for those who buy memberships in proprietorship clubs.
We were not told that Thanacity were in the flight zone of the new airport. We knew of the possibility that an airport can be built but it was never highlighted to us of the disturbances that it will cause.
Our dreams are now shattered and destroyed. More than 10 years of stay brought along its miseries. Thanacity now belongs to one of the worst kept estates in Bangna Trad area. There are many derelict houses, devoid of owners living in the estate. Construction is suspect in some of the houses that had been built. Sinking walls.Sinking carparks, collapsing internal structures. Titling electrical posts. Overgrown bushes and scrubs have overtaken some of the houses. Pools of breeding mosquitoes. God knows how many of the residents have experienced dengue or other malarial fever. Try to sit outside at your garden in the evenings. Electricity cuts in the days and in the nights are some of the things we need to put up with. And now the nonstop noises from the aircraft. Many of the residents fear of a big financial loss. There are no one to buy over the properties unless it is sold at distressed prices. Most of us still have to take our hard earned salaries and pay for the houses every month. Some of the problems are man-made and can easily be avoided. We can improve. And we should try to improve.
The roads are unkept. Grass and bushes barely cut. Drains never cleared. Or should we say some drains have never been cleared since the beginning of the project. Roads are unlited at night. The residents of Thanacity never got together until the problem of aircraft noise forced some of them to come together to air their views. They did not know how. The luckier ones moved out having sold their residence to another person. They absorb the losses. Desperate sales in desperate times or super cheap prices. Our property prices must now be among some of the lowest among Bangna Trad road if we intend to sell. This website hopes to bring the residents of Thanacity together and air their complaints , their opinions and their views and what actions to be taken. If all of the residents can get together and even email one another, this website have already achieved part of its goal.
How many of the residents have their houses broken into and their valuables taken away? Who can they complain to ? Are the other residents aware of such robberies and burglaries and in some cases the robbers are armed ? Besides talking to the Thanacity Management the oneswho sold us theproperties, is there a platform where residents have a chance to let their neighbours know how they feel on the security? We know of a house who was broken into three times in a row!
We have already paid the developers of the projects the moneys for our property. They are not supposed to care. We are now the owners. Sell, Sell, Sell. They already have made their profits. Do they care, Do We care ? Anyone looking to do real estate business without thinking of making profits? Raise your hands. Their only regret is that they are stuck with a lot of unsold properties which they had targeted originally to be sold at high prices during the earlier days of the property boom. They are the biggest landowner at Thanacity with derelict houses and vacant forest land. A big opportunity if they can sell all their land to the airport authorities. They should take the lead and bring the airport authorities to the negotiating table. They do not stay here at the Thanacity. But How can we the residents Sleep Every Night with the Aircraft Flying Right Over our Heads? We am also going crazy from Day Time Noises. Non stop. And wait till they build the 3rd Runway. And the 4th runway is also on the planning stage. My house vibrates at times.
Have the environment deteriorated? Yes. The air is quality is getting bad and going to be terrible. We are breathing in bad air being so near to so many of the Jet Engines. There are so many types of contaminates from the burning of jet fuel. Anybody with a severe medical condition , chronic or degenerative disease should not stay here. Let me tell you, it is going to get worst. There is going to be more aerial traffic. And there will be more surface traffic. More cars. More speed trucks. Don’t get hit by any of them. Be ready for the day when you drive out of Thanacity and there is a big jam at the entrance.
Some of the residents will be angry with this forum page. But we got to face the facts. The truth. The honest truth is that all of us made some bad decisions in buying our condos and our houses from the real estate developer. We have to live with this. We made our judgements and they made their sales. Let us not deceived others who may want to buy into Thanacity residences. Tell them the truth. The low prices may attract them. They may compromise and because of the attractive prices and choose to live in the noisy environment, poor estate management . They could be working at the airport too. Most of us will not be able to sell our properties. This is the truth. We have our financial constraints. We have to bear with it. We hope and pray that the airport authorities will compensate us for our land ,condos or houses.
I noted some attempts by the estate to sell new houses to be built in the estate. Maybe they have some other things in their minds besides the sales of houses which I think is very difficult. I also note that there has been some action groups set up by the various residents to sue the airport authorities. But do bear in mind that the biggest landowner is still the real estate developer. Have they attended these meetings and say out what they have in their minds? Are they going to assist the current residents who are really staying here in the estate to get compensation? Who will be the biggest benefitters ? I wonder.
I want to move away. I want to run away from the development. The management of the estate. The airport. The deteriorating conditions of the estate. The worsening air pollution. I believe many of you will also want to move away. But in the meantime, let us hope that we can improve our stay at Thanacity to make it a
